Everything you want to do can be accomplished, you just need to do the configuration yourself. If your WiFi dongle supports monitoring mode, install the drivers and make it mon0, and scan with that. If you want to connect to the Pi Zero over WiFi using the onboard WiFi, install hostapd and configure it. I did it this way because I wanted a small thing I could plug into a USB battery bank and connect to my phone with BT and run Bettercap, it's not the one way, the only way. I'm glad you learned something, that is why I wrote it.

I have "shortcuts" for things I do often, they're call bash scripts. Look into it, they can be useful.
